1862 6d. Deep lilac (plate 3) letters R-C. Described by S.G. as 'very fine and fresh unused original gum example'. Unobtrusive hinge trace, as near to perfect original gum as you will ever see. (This period o.g. may have a slight undulating effect). Lovely original colour. Obviously a treasured example in as near superb condition as may exist. Accompanied by Stanley Gibbons original retail card… priced £2,100=, some £300 more then than the current £1,800 catalogue value now. You won't find a better single. Perfect for a specialist collection. Gem. Provenance SG, UPA 1v.

SG Specialised J92(2) … in 54 years I have never seen a more perfect colour perfectly centred example of this very prone to fade shade. If this were a USA stamp of this period … with such centring, we are talking 100% to 500% premium to the catalogue value. This, however, is the UK.
