1929 2½d. Postal Union Congress Watermark INVERTED. The deeper blue shade catalogued by SG - NCom8a (Shade 1: Blue). Superb unmounted mint never hinged full original gum example supplied by Stanley Gibbons for the sum of £3,500=. A delightful well-centred example (design clear of perforation) with deep colour. The 'London' market is ahead of SG's current £2,500= listing, being in the region of £3,250=. It is a few years since we last sold a UM NH Wmk Inverted PUC 2½d. when there were 4 or 5 bidders and a similar quality example realised circa £3,000. A seldom opportunity. As the accompanying Stanley Gibbons retail catalogue states … of this very difficult watermark (1v. + SG Retail card)
