1929 2½d. Postal Union Congress Watermark INVERTED. The deeper blue shade catalogued by SG - NCom8a (Shade 1: Blue). Superb unmounted mint never hinged full original gum example supplied by Stanley Gibbons for the sum of £3,500=. A delightful well-centred example (design clear of perforation) with deep colour. The 'London' market is ahead of SG's current £2,500= listing, being in the region of £3,250=. It is a few years since we last sold a UM NH Wmk Inverted PUC 2½d. when there were 4 or 5 bidders and a similar quality example realised circa £3,000. A seldom opportunity. Ninth UPU Congress London: P.U.C. £1. Black, genuine sound no faults commercially used example well-cancelled clear of profile by almost legible date contemporary Registered oval date stamp cancel. Well-centred fractionally S., perforation clear of design. Reverse small hinge remnants. Very Good Used-Fine example. One of the finest engraved stamps in existence. PUC £1, superb unmounted mint, full original gum example ovptd 'SPECIMEN' type 32 in red. Accompanied by the original SG retail card, showing the selling price then as £2,700 although currently (Aug 2026) showing in SG Concise Catalogue as £3,000 for mint hinged. However this example is superb unmounted mint never hinged; We concur with the SG retail card which states 'very scarce so fine' that it is, in fact, RARE in this condition, Spec NCom9s. Typically unmounted mint this period commands up to 50% catalogue value premium. A rare stamp
